[Review] Suatu Pernah - Fynn Jamal

I’ve been sitting on the couch, lying on the bed for days. Even weeks. Watching “Suatu Pernah” music video, sung by Fynn Jamal on YouTube. Been watching it over and over in hope to understand the story but all I get is more and more questions.

________________________________________

Well I think we get that part where Sharifah Amani and Zahiril Adzim was once a couple. Through their flashbacks we can see that they loved each other, living their lives but along the way they fought trying to keep their love as their connections, similarities might have been gone. However, they went their separate ways and found ‘love’ with other persons.

Sharifah Amani met Iedil Putra.

Zahiril Adzim met Nadiya Nisaa.

Question 1: Did Amani and Zahiril stay as friends?
Well because in the music video, both of them met again, with their own partners. Unless, all of them are all in the same circle of friends, as all parties seem to know each other.

I guess when they meet again; all those memories came flashing back. Amani couldn’t stop looking at Zahiril and I think he realized that and he went out of the room. He even, couldn’t help to avoid those memories. Amani went out after him and as we all know, we could feel that they miss each other. Forwarding on from that, if you watch the video, I think you knew what happened.

Zahiril’s partner, Nadiya saw what Amani and Zahiril were doing outside. She was shocked and Iedil came, probably thinking what was Nadiya doing by the window. He saw what Nadiya saw. She ran out and bawled her heart out. Iedil came running after her.

Question 2: Why did Iedil run after Nadiya?
Shouldn’t he run towards Amani, his partner? Like if I were him, I would’ve caught Amani and Zahiril, like how dare both of you cheated on us?

But instead, he came running towards Nadiya and tried to calm her down.

Now came the interesting, the most complicated part to decipher about this music video.

Question 3: What did Iedil actually say to calm Nadiya down?
What was their story?

They all went back in, resuming what they were doing. Amani and Zahiril were there too, stealing stares at each other. But now, even Nadiya and Iedil did the same thing with each other.

Question 4: Okay, why all the sudden cryptic smiles and what not?

The party was out and the last to go home were Zahiril and Nadiya. While Iedil was clearing up the table - that was what I assume - he found Zahiril’s wallet and he passed it to Amani who was still by the stairs looking at Zahiril and Nadiya, walking down.

Question 5: Why didn’t Iedil just passed the wallet himself?
I guess because Zahiril stayed friends with Amani.

Amani then rushed down to give the wallet back to Zahiril. At the same moment, one of the pendant that they both have, had dropped on the floor.

Question 6: Has the pendant been in the wallet all along?
Or it was from Amani's necklace? Dropped after she ran down?

Amani picked it up and with a long contemplation; she gave it back to Zahiril. And Nadiya smiled at the bottom of the stairs.

Question 7: What is the meaning behind that smile?!

The most asked question where loads of people must have been wondering about.

There are lots of perception that I read from comments on Fynn Jamal’s YouTube and Instagram. There is no right or wrong interpretation because a masterpiece like this is up for anyone to judge and make his or her own rendition of the story.

However, I would still love to know the real story and message that the music video wants to convey. Why? Because… only by then, our curiosity will rest in peace.

Fynn Jamal is a Malaysian indie musician, a beautiful writer and a soulful singer. Suatu Pernah is definitely a masterpiece that touches many. The story does not have to be the same as portrayed on the screen but to me, all of us have our own version of Suatu Pernah.

I can't stress this enough but what a masterpiece. Kudos to all the people involved, Fynn Jamal for the awesome music and lyrics, Sharifah Amani for directing this marvellous gem and what an awesome line-ups too, surprisingly all are my favourites especially the main casts; Sharifah Amani, Zahiril Adzim, Iedil Putra and Nadiya Nisaa, you guys are just magical.

Okay, they won't be reading this but this is my blog so I can write about what I want wheeeeee!

Oh and as a look out, Amani wore the pendant throughout the party.

Last question: Is that to tell the others about her feelings?

It's Okay

It is okay,
To hold my hand,
To embrace me in your arms,
To kiss me on the forehead.

It is okay,
To walk with just the two of us,
To gaze into each others eyes,
To talk over the phone till late night.

It is okay,
You can touch my hair,
You can pinch my cheeks,
You can do whatever you want.

Nothing is wrong…

The both of us are going to get married anyway.

*                      *                      *

My heart goes to all couples out there that are bound in a relationship other than marriage. As a Muslim at heart, I believe, each and every one of you knew what is right and what is wrong.

But why do you think nothing is wrong with this?

You probably did end up married to each other but remember those sins are still accountable in the Day of Judgement. You possibly did not marry to each other and all that’s left are just memories and regrets. That is haunting you for the rest of your life.

Then you blame the voices in your head, telling you that nothing is wrong. And after a while you believe the words are actually the words of the enemy, alluring you to sin. By just a simple sentence… it is okay.

When it is not.

Then you realize… if you ever realize, you can’t really blame the enemy… because you are the one who let him penetrate you. You are the one who let him win.

In A Rush

Last week, my Aussie-mates planned to have breakfast together on next Thursday, which is yesterday. I did not forget our plan but I was not fit to drive on that day. Because long story short, I injured my back and left leg. The pain is super-excruciating and I’m not kidding.

Yesterday morning, while I was wallowing in bed, I texted my mates on our whatsApp group telling them that I would not be able to come. Being lovely as always, NJ offered to pick me up and she was already on her way. I am about to text her back that “it’s okay! Maybe next time insyaAllah” but then it’s breakfast guys! Food! Plus, it’s been awhile since we last met heeeee.

A bit late to realize, I have to be ready in like less than 30 minutes!
I smelled my hair; I’ll just wash you tomorrow since I just washed you yesterday.
I smelled my ketiak and Maaahhhnn, let’s hit the showers!

Note: I was in a rush guys but I do take showers everyday haha.

It took me about 10 minutes to walk out of the bathroom and checked my phone.

I’m outside *insert smiling with blush emoji* - NJ texted.

GAAAAHHH!
Okay. Where’s my blouse?! Opened my luggage (I haven’t unpack my things yet)
and grab any new blouse, cut-off the price tag and swoosh!
Now, pants, pants, pants.
Whoa! Why now leg cramps?! *cries*

Knock! Knock!
“Kaaa! Your friend is here!” Babu yelled.
“Yeah, in a minute!” I said.
Not really.

Wore my hijab in less than 3 minutes and thank Allah for crumpled shawl! I don’t need to iron these materials. Grabbed my purse, kick on my Air-Max and out I go, meeting my Aussie-mates having a loud with laughter breakfast.

It’s been awhile really chatting with these pretty souls. Told them about my injury, they told me about their life. One of my mates, AM noticed my blouse and said it was pretty. I didn’t realize that as I was in a rush this morning. Bought it because it was on Buy 1 Free 1 sale. I would not hesitate to say that this blouse is the free one.

Two hours passed and everyone had to leave. NJ sent me back home and I changed to my comfy clothes. As I hang my pretty blouse on my bathroom rail, I saw this...

YA ALLAH! I WENT OUT WITH THAT ATTACHED ON MY BLOUSE?
MY PRETTY BLOUSE???

I thought it was safe enough to cut the price tag! I was lucky that this was attached on the inside. Phew. Better check properly next time *wipes sweat*
