[Review] Suamiku Encik Perfect 10!

Suamiku Encik Perfect 10! (Translation: My Husband Mr. Perfect 10!), is a Malaysian movie adapted from a novel named as it is. I am not a movie critique expert so don’t expect an intelligent review but really just a review from a lady that have watched the movie once, that have not read the novel yet and sooooo not interested in romantic-idealistic movie.

The casts were amazing. They are:
Lisa Surihani as Aleeya Azmeen
Aaron Aziz as Zarief Danial
Syazwan Zulkipli as Syed Muzaffar
Raja Ilya as Azura
Jehan Miskin as Akram
Jasmin Hamid as Yazmeen (Aleeya’s Mother)
Normah Damanhuri as Mak Tuk

The storyline was uber unrealistic and complicated. As a start, a Malaysian female student, Aleeya Azmeen got pregnant, raped by her own boyfriend, Syed Muzaffar when they studied together in London. Muzaffar disappears all of a sudden; Aleeya panicked and didn’t know what to do. She didn’t know how to face her strict mother. She phoned her mother, told her that she’s married and is pregnant. Aleeya finally decided to leave her study and go back to Malaysia even though she is afraid to do so.

In an airplane, going from London to Malaysia, she met a guy named Zarief Danial. A guy engaged to Azura. Oh man, I don’t want to talk about Azura, that-crazy-fiancée-who-cheated-and-got-pregnant-too but not by Zarief, but by her romantic affair, Akram, who helped her in doing her evil stuff.

Anyways, Zarief decided to help Aleeya and pretended to be her husband for a week. There were a lot of funny scenes in the beginning but one week has passed and the fun ended. Why? Because they both started to fall in love with each other but Syed Muzaffar and Azura came into the picture. (Technically, it was Zarief that came into Aleeya’s life and vice versa).

[SPOILER ALERT] In the end, Aleeya and Syed Muzaffar got married. HAHA. I’m not kidding. The only good thing was Zarief never married to Azura because people found out about her pregnancy and I don’t care about her ending.

This story has so many plot twists lah so I think it’s better for you to watch it in order to understand more about the movie.

Those who love romantic movie would totally love Suamiku Encik Perfect 10!, but for an action movie goers like myself, I felt sleepy afterwards and walked out of the cinema speechless, super tired of the complicated drama going on.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed the movie and totally loving the casts. They did a great job and no wonder this movie achieved the best Box Office Movie in Malaysia last week.

Now go to your nearest cinema and fall in love with Mr. Perfect 10. In Brunei there is only one cinema showing this movie though. So you can head to Mall Cineplex Gadong or you can book your tickets online at www.themallcineplex.com

Ps. Yes, I do realize that I don’t possess the quality to be a good movie critique but it’s worth a try haha *Insert laugh with tears emoticon*

Anugerah Juara Lagu Ke-29

Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL) is a competition held annually in Malaysia where artists are competing with each other regardless of what genre of music they’re singing.  This competition does not only honors singers but also the composers and the lyricists of the song.

It has been decades that this competition is held (29 years to be exact!). Imagine how many artists took part in this and the evolution of music - from Ballad, Pop, Rock, Traditional, Indie, Hip Hop and more. All of these genres had won before in AJL except Hip Hop.

However this year, the Hip Hop clan claimed their first ever Juara Lagu trophies as CHAMPIONS! Congratulations to Joe Flizzow and Sonaone for winning the AJL 29th Edition! and RM50,000 Yoooo

To be honest I was being skeptical with the results.

Note: I am always skeptical. I did not watch the entire performances from the finalists last night. I was half-asleep when they announced the results.

Then I woke up this morning trying to recall why Najwa and Hafiz did not win anything? Does Shila Amzah deserve the runner-up? Did Joe and Sonaone deserve the champion title? And the only thing that is undeniable was when Dayang won the Best Vocal Award. She was amazing. She won the second runner-up award too. You can say her comeback was worth it.

Najwa and Hafiz did not win anything because it was not their rezeki. Najwa nailed it last night with those cute little girl dancers that disguise themselves as “Lelaki”. Yuna should be proud of her! And Hafiz was… just Hafiz.

Although I think Najwa or Hafiz should win instead of Shila Amzah but who knows, Shila might had worked super hard for this competition. She deserves it. It has always been her rezeki.

So… did Joe and his protégé, Sonaone deserve theirs? OH YEAH! THEY DESERVE THIS AWARD! Hip Hop genre never wins in this competition but not this year! Hip Hop artists in Malaysia had always been working hard to get their music to be accepted by the mainstream community since the 1990s.

To focus on Joe Flizzow, the King of Hip Hop, the Jay-Z of Malaysia (let me be your Beyoncé, kidding!), the person to actually generate this genre till this day, the person that opens door to many Hip Hop artists in Malaysia, the person that initially worked with his partner in Too Phat that is known to everyone (at least people at my age) but I don’t know what happened, Malique is nowhere to be seen.

Upon winning the champion title,

“Terima kasih semua dan ini untuk... ” Joe hesitated.

“Ini untuk Hip Hop”.

That hesitation Joe… everyone knows the hesitation is for Malique.

Apa Khabar is for Malique too… kan?

Dear Malique, just say khabar baik already!

Anyways, below are the finalists for AJL 29th Edition:
  • Apa Khabar – Joe Flizzow and Sonaone (WINNER)
  • Masih Aku Cinta – Shila Amzah (First Runner-Up)
  • Di Pintu Syurga – Dayang Nurfaizah (Second Runner-Up, Best Vocal Award)
  • Romancinta – Mojo (Best Performance Award)
  • Gilalah – Stacy
  • Percayalah – Indah Ruhaila
  • Gadis Jolobu – Dato’ Hattan and Waris
